The Jim and Pam office romance is an essential part of the
show. Most relationships are commonly started now from a young age like during
high school and college. The characters Jim Halpert (played by John Krasinski) and
Pam Beasley (played by Jenna Fischer) started off as casual co-workers.
Overtime, they become closer and closer as friends. Although Pam was engaged to
a warehouse worker by the name of Roy Anderson (played by David Denman), Jim
and Pam continued their flirtatious work relationship. Roy, Pam’s fiancé; had
some commitment issues. Pam and Roy were engaged for a few years. Clearly, Pam
was upset and emotionally depressed that they did not just get married already.
This was a big reason for Pam to turn her attention to Jim because he showed
genuine interest in her. There was a point in the series where it looked as if
Jim and Pam’s flirty relationship would come to an end. Jim ended up taking a promotion
at another branch and began dating a new co-worker Karen Filippelli (played by
Rashida Jones). This new relationship started off looking very healthy.
Eventually, this new branch was closed, and Jim, Karen, and a few other
employees rejoined the Scranton branch where Jim originally worked at. Being reunited
with Pam again, Jim’s feelings resurfaced for Pam. Jim eventually told Karen
about his feelings for Pam, resulting to an end of their relationship. Jim’s
patience with Pam and her engagement was well worth it. After Pam called her
engagement off, they began dating and later married with children.
